The CA Respite Groups are designed to provide monthly respite for families/parents to enjoy time for themselves; a meal out, time for errands, rest, etc. In addition to the staff, volunteers involved throughout the event. Volunteers allow for more social interaction at the event and provides an opportunity to learn from each other and build relationships—and it’s more fun!
The Saturday evening Citizen Advocates Youth Respite is for families that have a student or students with disabilities and their siblings. A student is anyone age 3-21. Volunteers are middle school and high school peers. We meet at Silverbrook Middle School.
The Saturday morning Citizen Advocates Respite group is for families that have a child of any age with disabilities and their siblings. Volunteers can be any age. We meet at Immanuel UCC in West Bend.
Our respite programs are designed for anyone that has a disability. Our locations are fully accessible. However, we do not do personal cares for any attendee. We can assist with bathroom needs as necessary and appropriate, but we do not have the ability to do any sort of lifting. Regular medication should be adjusted to be given before or after an event. Allergies should be clearly noted prior to attending. You must provide a phone number of where you can be reached during the respite program time. If your family member may require a change of clothes due to an accident, please make sure to send those along.
